Why was Afrasheem murdered? Part 1

Why was Afrasheem murdered ? This is the question everyone is pondering about and this murder case is the axis around which the Maldives revolves.

I am just going to present hypothethis regarding the motivations behind the killing.This being the first ever politically motivated killing in the Maldives,the citizens of the country should be well informed about the future directions of the nation.

1. Afrasheem was more sufi than salafis

Afrasheem was the first Islamic scholar to questions some regarding Salafi Wahaabi ideology.Prior to his arrival in the country,the scene was dominated by Salafi Wahabi scholars who believe that the majority of the Muslim are kafir and hence war has to be declared upon them.

The fact that Afrasheem was more articulate(whatever may be his intention) and knowledgeable than most of the current scholars in the country,created a lot of bitterness among some scholars.

The mere existence of a more rational scholar would have greatly upset the West too.This is because the West desire that Salafi Wahabi theology to foster in the Muslim countries and breed shallow minded Muslims who think that war in Syria is a real jihad.The fact that the West recruits these jihadis is a well documented fact and think tanks in the West have admitted to this.The chaos of local politics(dominated by MDP) plus the Salafi ideology is the perfect ground for promoting these shallow minded Muslims.
